Yıldanur KETENCİ 2012

‘ Row row boatman ’ is the name of the Exhibition of a well-known sculptor Yıldanur KETENCİ. The artist was born in 1958 in Izmir, Turkeyand graduated from 9 Eylul University, Faculty of Fine Arts in Sculpture. Her art works have been represented nationally and internationally in various solo and group exhibitions in cities such as New York City and Stockholm.

This exhibition reflects a longing for the past while shedding light on the devastating effects of technology on human relations. Her represents a revelation and reaction to the loss of the human values.

KETENCİ points out that her exhibition is a gift dedicated to all who love the seaand the feelings associated to its ever-cleansing effect.

With the power of perspective, old materials are eloquently blended with today’s technology to create the final concept. Used are materials such as craft papers as familiar to us as the melodies from our childhood, hand-made-eye-straining laces used from our grandmothers’ old chests, and collected remnants of wrecked wood flooring, wire mesh, copper, ropes, stones and pebbles from an old house.

KETENCİ not only generously offers us to enjoy these powerful figurative images, but also creates a powerful and plastic language as beautiful and deep as sea.
